Cosmic Microwave Background
2019

Cosmic Microwave Background is a video sculpture that embeds a strange cosmology into the new Lyon Housemuseum Galleries. Utilising footage taken inside the gallery before its completion, nova Milne manipulate the captured emptiness as a vantage point inside the gallery as raw materiality. The screens seemingly trap fragments animated by alchemistic forces inside a slice of invisible time and space. Drawing upon a number of unrevealed sources, the artists use rotoscopy to animate the documented gallery, imagined as a moving sculptural relief.

Synchronized multi-channel video work for 4 screens. 4K video, rotoscopy, archival samples, 1:10 min. Loop. No sound.

Powder coated steel, paint, 4 x LED screens, media players, foil, automotive decal, tape, electrical cord. Overall dimension of sculpture : 206 x 121 x 155 cm
